Gustave x Laura Sanchez

Laura Sanchez is a young photographer from Marseille, Mediterranean at heart. After completing her studies and working in various fields far removed from the image, she moved to Paris to devote herself to art photography. In 2020, during the lockdown, she decided to take the plunge and borrowed a small Canon camera from a family member for the first time, driven by the desire to capture details that caught her eye. She found in this new activity a form of tranquility that allowed her to open a new eye to what surrounded her. From then on, she never left her camera, except in unfavorable weather conditions, more inspired by the rays of the sun than by the gray of the clouds.

Cinema, Music, and America

Laura draws her inspiration from the little things of everyday life, sometimes seized by a place, attracted by a street scene, a memory, a film, inspired by an image posted on Instagram. Passionate about music, she also finds in it a great source of inspiration and concentration. Music allows her to add a mood to her work, to make it more alive. Among the artists who inspire her, Laura first cites Wes Anderson, whose film themes and visual signature inspired her from her first shooting experiences, but also the geometric and colorful compositions of contemporary photographer Matthieu Venot, or the colorful shots of American landscapes by Ludwig Favre. American culture, which has also helped shape Laura's work through cinema and music, is reflected in her latest series, "Summertime" , born during her last vacation spent in the south of France. This collection mixes love and nostalgia for the places of her childhood.

A poetic look at the ordinary

The constant quest for astonishing compositions and chromatic perfection, the search for her own tone and the constant renewal of her inspirations allow Laura to create unique works that are unlike any other; they are now resonating with an increasingly wide audience. The photographer's universe is recognizable by her color palette and sometimes improbable viewing angles, by extracts from reality transmuted into theatrical settings in which an atmosphere of simplicity rubs shoulders with the boundaries of abstraction. One of the works particularly dear to her heart, " Geometric colors " - also for sale on Gustave - shows us what Laura wants above all to convey to the viewer by creating: a poetic look at banality, a lyricism of the infra-ordinary. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, as demonstrated by Laura's creativity, where the everyday is illuminated, the banal is adorned with colors, life with emotions.
