Founded by Walter Gropius in the early 20th century, the Bauhaus was a German art school that eventually became its own art movement, characterized by its unique and modern approach to architecture and design. Inspired by architecture, Bauhaus painting typically combines flat planes with superimposed forms to suggest dimensionality. Besides painting, artists often produced avant-garde collages and modernist posters featuring bold typographies and color blocks.
